Frequently asked questions

The short answers buyers ask before they sign up. For pricing details see the pricing page; for setup, start with getting started.

Pricing & plans

Does Hiveship charge per AI agent?

No. Hiveship is priced as a flat fee per workspace per month, with no per-agent fees on any plan. Connected-agent and agent-run limits are per-workspace, not per-agent, so adding more agents to your team never increases your bill.

Is Hiveship cheaper than Linear for a 10-person team?

Yes. Hiveship Pro is $19 per month flat for up to 10 members; Linear Standard is $10 per seat per month, so a 10-person team pays $100 per month with Linear.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Free plan includes 2 projects, 100 issues, 3 members, 1 connected agent, and 50 agent runs per month, forever. No credit card required to sign up.

What happens when I hit a plan limit?

You keep your existing data and can still read everything; creating new items beyond the limit is blocked with a prompt to upgrade. Upgrading lifts the limit immediately, and nothing is deleted.

AI agents

Which AI coding agents work with Hiveship?

Any agent that can authenticate with a bearer token and call the REST API or MCP server. We ship documented, first-class setups for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Codex. Others that speak MCP or REST work the same way via the bearer-token path (Cline, Aider, Devin, GitHub Copilot); those are not individually tested yet.

Can I use Hiveship without AI agents?

Yes. Hiveship is a complete issue tracker for human teams; the agent features are additive. Many teams start humans-only and add agent integrations after.

Do I need to pay extra for the AI used by my agents?

No. You bring your own AI: agents authenticate with their own model subscription (your Claude, OpenAI, or Cursor plan), and Hiveship never resells inference, so there's no token markup on top of your bill.

Data & hosting

Where is my data stored?

Hiveship runs in the EU: the application database and object storage are both hosted in EU regions. TLS in transit and encryption at rest are enabled by default.

Does Hiveship offer a self-hosted version?

No. Hiveship is a managed cloud product with EU data residency. Self-hosting is not on the immediate roadmap.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Every workspace can pull its issues, projects, and comments through the REST API with a Personal Access Token, so your data is never locked in.

Security & accounts

Does Hiveship support two-factor authentication?

Yes. Any account can turn on TOTP two-factor authentication with an authenticator app plus ten single-use backup recovery codes, and 2FA can be required for admin accounts.
